The fall to earth
(when dreams find out there is no landing place)

Eyes glowing with delight, she speaks of him:
Her handyman, her lover, and so kind.
On Sundays he will cook. How smooth is that?
The sound of pizza laughing fills my mind.

But girl, this vision, does he write you verse?
Or stand aside when you yearn to be free?
Does this Adonis own a cuckoo clock?
And hold you tight when you pop in for tea?

Lips drawing sensual breath, she dreams of him:
Her brave Renaissance stud speaks Spanish, too.
He'll buy her diamond rings. How cool is that?

That sound is dreams crash-landing.

Spanish?

wasn't the spanish renaissance a bit of a remote distortion of what the word originally refers to?

I thought that would wake you up, charnel and matti. Every word is carefully selected, as usual!

kk, i have to bring up an issue that's been at the tip of my tongue for as long as i've read this blog.

that photo of yours. up till now i've been like, ok, it's just bruce at a really badly maintained swimming pool. but no. dude, it KILLS the mysterious-poet-guy vibe you so have going on here.

allow me to illustrate.

see what i'm getting at? it's not you, it's the photo.

Ah, matti, at first I thought you meant 'the eye', but you actually mean the profile photo. Hmm, you have a point. I shall ponder.

Jesus, what a fright, clicking on a link & seeing a giant photo of your self! Matti, you are crazy. Kanikoski, you have to stick with a photo that you are happy with, though my friends were so negative about my first photo I ended up changing it - but maybe Matti has a point . . . I think I may delete my photo, I am heartily sick of seeing myself every time I blog, but what do I put instead?

Hey, nmj, I really like your profile photo! It's so expressive. Don't you go changing (if you don't want to)!
